So what is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardised protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. These mal adaptive behaviours are often so significant that they interfere with a person’s every day level of functioning. CBT treatment focusses upon changing an individual’s thoughts, which are called ‘thought patterns’ so as to then implement effective change in that person’s behaviour and emotional state. CBT is very strongly supported by evidence based research as a highly effective psychological treatment intervention.
